The Field House at The Battery offers a new gateway to play and exploration, with a curved, vine-covered form that blends into the surrounding landscape.
The Battery Field House has been selected as a Design for Freedom Pilot Project by Grace Farms Foundation, part of a national effort to build with transparency and eliminate forced labor from supply chains.
Commissioned by The Battery Conservancy in partnership with NYC Parks and designed by WXY architecture + urban design, the project was developed with a team including landscape architects Starr Whitehouse, MEP engineers Plus Group, and structural engineers McLaren. Together, the team reimagined an existing structure to better serve The Battery’s visitors and staff with a resilient, accessible, and ethically sourced design.
