Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas Master Plan
The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Master plan envisions the transformation of the Dallas’ existing convention center into a live-work-play convention center district with signature parks and public spaces, a vibrant mix of commercial, retail, hotel, residential, and entertainment uses, and a reimagined southern gateway that reconnects the city’s neighborhoods and civic assets.
WXY led the district-level urban design strategy, centering the pedestrian experience within a multi-modal transportation network. With the district framework, WXY leveraged the re-orientation of the existing Convention Center as a catalyst for a new pedestrian-oriented cultural spine linking key destinations and generating activity within the district.
Once completed, the project will reconnect Dallas with the historically disadvantaged Cedars neighborhood to the south and create a necklace of new open spaces surrounded by mixed-use development, arts, culture, and entertainment venues, and active programming
