In 2023, WXY completed work on a new youth and family support center in Downtown Brooklyn for Graham Windham, an innovative nonprofit. Occupying the entire floor, the 15,000 square foot build-out provides families, youth, and staff with a range of spaces tailored to different types of support, including: therapy for children and families, visits for families with children in foster care, educational and career coaching for young people, as well as parenting groups.
Designed to create a warm, inviting, living-room like space for those in the Graham community, the project employs a range of calming natural materials and colors. Graphics within the spaces celebrate the organization’s 217-year long history.
From a kitchen counter with coffee and healthy snacks to a youth lounge, a wellness space, therapy rooms, private phone booths, a shower stall, and a laundry area, the center at 195 Montague Street aims to meet the needs of children, youth, and adults in a safe, uplifting atmosphere.
"We intended that 195 Montague would be an oasis that offers welcoming, vibrant open spaces with lots of light so [our community members] can exhale, recalibrate and work on their lives."
Kimberly Watson, Graham’s President & CEO
"As I walked into this space, the words that popped into my head were: design matters…I feel lifted up, I feel happy walking into this space."
